Gerhard Ebner – a gentleman leaves the Tourism Schools
Gerhard Ebner is leaving our school – which is not really good news. Let us rather remember the wonderful hours with him, as a very respected teacher, as a valued colleague and for many of us also as a friend.
I very well remember our first encounter in 2008, when I was lecturing at the Tourism School in the course of the holiday study. Gerhard Ebner stood concentrated at the entrance and had the whole event in view. My longtime colleague Manfred Körper introduced me to Mr Ebner and emphasised in the end: “He is a professional authority here at the school.”
A few years later I got to know Gerhard Ebner better as a colleague. I soon noticed that he did not communicate much but always as much as necessary. In meetings he did not talk a lot, though his comments and feedback were always very important. He found the correct tone not only in class, but also in the conference room.
He had a longlasting influence on our graduates. At class reunions, it is always impressive to see successful entrepreneurs talking enthusiastically about how Gerhard Ebner has opened up the world of wine to them.
How high his reputation really is in our TSBG family is reflected in the comments on our social channels. Hardly any other news generated as much traffic as the one concerning his retirement. We are therefore all the more pleased that we can continue to draw on his knowledge on important topics (young sommelier training, wine tastings, bar and cheese training, etc.). Many thanks for this!
Dear Gerhard, we wish you all the best and health for your new period of life. Enjoy your leisure time and stay connected with us and our school! Finally, I must say that I miss your often used form of address “Gentlemen” already a little bit!
