Bonjour Nice!
Finally, the time had come again! After we were unable to go to the Côte d’Azur for Easter in 2021 due to the pandemic, we made up for it this year.
this year in April, we made up for this biennial trip to France.

The concierges received their Les Clefs d’Or diplomas
“The guest is king” or “reading the guest’s wish from his lips” – this is easier said than done, and it takes a lot of training and tact to fulfil, understand and ideally also anticipate guest or customer wishes.
How to do this is taught at the Tourism Schools Bad Gleichenberg in the additional training reception/concierge in cooperation with Les Clefs D’Or.
“In our digital age, working online and with digital tools is becoming increasingly important. We place great emphasis on this in our training,” says Alois Schöllauf, training manager.
In May and June, our newly graduated young concierges were proud to receive their diplomas.
Viaje a España
At the end of a stressful school year and after the practical exams, HLT 4A/B went to Andalusia, to Pedregalejo near Málaga, together with Prof. Karin Hirschmugl and Prof. Iris Steiner. In addition to daily lessons at one of the language schools there, we visited Seville and Málaga, went on a hike at the Caminito del Rey and went kayaking. The timing of this language study trip was perfect, as we were also celebrating the summer solstice, la Fiesta de San Juan, on the beach along with hundreds of Spanish young people. ¡Hasta la próxima vez!

Get-to-know-you weeks at the Campus of the Tourism Schools
The first graders of the Tourism Schools Bad Gleichenberg started the school year with the traditional “get-to-know-you” weeks.
The aim is to give some orientation. To get to know the teachers and the course of events, and of course to make first experiences in practical lessons and simply have fun together and feel at home in the new environment.
Hiking day
At the beginning of every school year, there is of course the obligatory hiking day. It is simply a great opportunity to get to know each other and have fun together in nature.
For our TSBG classes and for the first graders of the private secondary school, a trip to the Styrassic Park was on the agenda.
For our other secondary school classes, it was off to Riegersburg Castle with an exclusive school tour to the most secret corners of the castle roof.

Female Teachers’ Team Building in Loipersdorf
Before the school stress really started this year, the female teachers met in Loipersdorf and spent the first teacher team building weekend. Many thanks to Karin Hirschmugl for the organisation.

Busy trade fair season for the Tourism Schools Bad Gleichenberg
After a two-year break due to the pandemic, autumn time is education fair time again. Where and how to continue after the 8th grade or rather after the final school leaving examination is a huge topic for all those who are faced with this decision. The countless career and education fairs that take place especially in the first semester give some orientation. As a campus school, the Tourism Schools Bad Gleichenberg have a particularly large area involved and accordingly have a lot to do at fairs. Fortunately, interested pupils, students, graduates and the team of teachers are actively involved from Zagreb to Fürstenfeld, from Feldbach to Deutschlandsberg, from Graz to Spittal/Drau.

The Kronen Zeitung birthday party
The Kronen Zeitung is a long-standing partner of the tourism schools. Especially at the Styrian Wine Trophy there is a particularly intensive cooperation. Hence, it was a matter of course that the tourism schools were involved in the 50th anniversary of the Steirer Krone.
The Junior Chefs Season 2022/23 has begun!
As every year, the first session of the Junior Chefs took place in October, where 11–13-year-old cooking talents have the chance to get a taste of the profession of chef once a month at the campus of the tourism schools.
After a first introduction, the junior chefs got down to business and after some time they were already preparing their first pancakes.
Vintage in Silberberg
For several years there has been a close partnership between the Weinbauschule Silberberg (Viticulture School) and the Tourism Schools Bad Gleichenberg. Several times a year, an exchange takes place in the framework of this school partnership. The first highlight takes place in October when the young sommeliers from Gleichenberg travel to Silberberg for the grape harvest.
This year they could not have chosen a better day. They were out and about in the vineyards in absolutely perfect weather.
Ritz Carlton presentation by Christoph Flaggl
It is always a highlight when our successful graduates visit us on campus and share their knowledge at a workshop. At the beginning of November, Christoph Flaggl did us the honour and presented the philosophy behind the luxury brand Ritz Carlton, inspiring the students with stories from his everyday life at Ritz Carlton Berlin. Dear Christoph, thank you very much for your visit!

In Vino Veritas – A noble vintage
Toast together, celebrate together and enjoy being together. That was the motto of the unforgettable ball night on 11.11.2022 at the tourism schools in Bad Gleichenberg.
With a glass of wine or two, Styrian delicacies and musical entertainment from EGON7, nothing stood in the way of an exhilarating ball night. In addition to many different bars, the right adrenaline kick was also provided. Whether old or young, everyone could be found on the rodeo bull at one time or another.
We, the graduating classes of the tourism schools Bad Gleichenberg, would like to thank the numerous ball guests for coming and the great support of all classes.
Thank you and remember “In Vino Veritas”!

Visit to the GAST in Salzburg
After a long break due to the pandemic, the 4B was able to attend the Alles für den Gast-trade fair in Salzburg at the beginning of November for the first time.
Besides working at the fair, there was enough time for the class to visit the fair and admire the latest trends and products.

Kolleg Night Out – Fine Dining at the Geschwistern Rauch
Since a change of perspective broadens the horizon, the students of our tourism college slipped into the role of the guests and were pampered with a mouthwatering fine dining 4-course menu by the Geschwister Rauch including a flawless and state of the art service.
The aperitif and the Amuse Gueule were presented and served personally by Richard and Sonja Rauch at the Villa Rosa, the company’s own gourmet hotel. Many thanks for the great hospitality!
