New support systems on the Campus of the Private Schools Bad Gleichenberg
Since our society has been put into permanent crisis mode, we need more support in our schools and also on the campus. The 39 weeks of lockdown have also left their mark on our students. Even our uncritical mainstream media stated that ‘our children were at home for far too long’ – see the KLEINE ZEITUNG of 6 November 2022.
As a private school, we decided to ramp up our support systems at short notice. In addition to our school doctor (Dr Monika NEUMEISTER) and our school psychologist (Dr Elisabeth ZECHMEISTER), we have brought in additional support services. Mag. (FH) Sonja GRABNER has offered holistic awareness training (with yoga) for our fifth classes, and our colleague Elli RICHTER will endeavour to provide targeted student coaching (learning coaching).
With these offers, we should be able to accompany our pupils through this eventful time:
LEARNING COACHING with Elli Richter
Learning coaching combines elements of coaching, pedagogy and psychology to help learners develop effective learning strategies and overcome obstacles to learning success. Excessive nervousness before or during exams, a lack of motivation or concentration and inefficient learning can all be causes of a drop in performance.
An important component is the promotion of self-reflection and self-confidence. Pupils are encouraged to reflect on their learning processes, recognise their own learning preferences and take responsibility for their learning. Through this process, they can learn to organise themselves better, learn more effectively and make better use of their time.
“I firmly believe that every learner has the potential to succeed. My goal is to help them realise this potential,’ emphasises learning coach Elli Richter.”
Holistic awareness training with Mag. (FH) Sonja Grabner
“I would like to thank Peter Kospach from the bottom of my heart, because he put his trust in me for the mentoring programme for holistic awareness development and he himself lives it. I would also like to thank the Year 5 pupils who took part voluntarily (this was very important to me!).
With the 5000-year-old life philosophy of yoga (meaning unity – control of thoughts), consisting in physical exercises, breathing techniques, mindfulness exercises, meditation, sounds, scents, nutrition – also from Ayurveda (=wisdom of life), we also delved into areas of mental training, tools for value work, and much more.
For me, my own development of consciousness (which never ends) has completely changed my life. Now I know what self-love feels like, love, compassion, being real, honest appreciation and acceptance, simply BEING ME. It would be wonderful if there was a holistic awareness concept in regular lessons. I will continue to work for this with all my heart.”
